The dilemma of following the path religiously or concentrating on the end.

Sometimes i find myself in a situation in which i have two options in front of me. One in which I should concentrate on the path which I am following to fulfill my desires or to just concentrate on the destination without even caring about the path. i become a mess that time. Then with a lot of introspection, i find that its the path that matters the most. Without enjoying the journey, one cant savor the joy of reaching his or her destinations. Following one's dreams is the best thing in this world, but one should not be in so much love with them that he forgets to follow the right path to fulfill them.
Life is also a journey with a universal destination named "death". But none of us stops living out of fear of death.  Then why cant we apply the same analogy to everything we do in life. Enjoying the journey  brings happiness in one's life while focusing on the end brings only desperation, restlessness and pain. Rephrasing my point, one should live in the present always without caring much about what happened and what will happen.
We seem to be going through a period of nostalgia, and everyone seems to think yesterday was better than today.  I don't think it was, and I would advise you not to wait ten years before admitting today was great.  If you're hung up on nostalgia, pretend today is yesterday and just go out and have one hell of a time.

  1. this debate about past, present and future has been goin on since a long time... its true that one should live in the present but the same cannot be generalised about every person and situation.... life is not so simple where u can always apply a single law.."ceteris paribus" doesnt exist in real life... so we are always expected to account for all the factors at the same time...

    1. i agree with you poorvi that one should consider all the factors, but one thing is for sure that no one can change the past and no one can predict the future. So ruining the present is not worth it.
Life is as simple as we want to make it,but we ourselves complicate it.

    2. very nice reading yash...i personally believe that there are two kinds of people in this world..one who believe that the goal is the ultimate destination irrespective of the means and the other group which believes that the means to achieve the goal have to be righteous..the choice is upto the micro perspective of the individual...no one is good or bad otherwise the proverb "EVERYTHING IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR" would not exist...:)

  3. past is dead, future is vision and the present is pre-sent. enjoy present. Thats the essence of life. We cant hold our past in our fist, we cant foretell about our future, the best we can do is to enjoy the moment that has been sent to us by GOD. And thats why its called pre-sent "THE Gift".
