Rape: Curse to Humanity.

When I read some time ago, that 19 rape cases were reported last month in Haryana alone, I felt ashamed of the society in which we are living. On one hand we talk of education, liberalisation, economic reforms, globalisation, peace, etc. etc. etc. and so many other ornamental words, and on the other hand we are not able to bring humans living in this so called” civilized society” to the level of humanity. This economic progress, technological innovation etc doesn’t have any meaning at all till the time everyone in the society; irrespective of being male or female, can’t feel safe and live without any fear.
As I researched more about the happenings in Haryana, several stupid things came up. I was amazed and distressed at the same time when I came to know that an issue of such sensitivity is being tackled by a mob of some ignorant and stupid old bastards who call themselves as “Khap Panchayat”. I don’t see any good reason why such people are even allowed to take decision on such issues. And the solution with which they came up was not at all surprising according to their meagre intellectual ability and respect for women. These so called “Caretakers of Society” decided that the marriage age of girls should be reduced to 15-16 years to avoid rapes. What a thought provokingly shameful thought process! The only meaning of such kind of decision is that now girls will be forced into a painful combination of rape and child marriage. With this decision are they trying to promote their narrow mentality that sex is the sole purpose of marriage or have they tried to turn rape as legal activity by thinking about child marriage? If they will ask these questions from themselves, I don’t doubt that they will bow their head with shame.
What else they are trying to solve with this solution, because this decision is not at all a solution for this problem. The most anguishing fact is that former chief minister of Haryana; Mr Om Prakash Chautala also confidently supported this decision. But I don’t want to blame him (sarcastically). For persons like him and members of “Khap Panchayats”, it’s very easy to sound utter idiot and super confident at the same time.
Whenever this issue of rape is highlighted, girls are being blamed every time. Sometime it’s the provocative clothing and this time it’s not getting married early. Isn't it insane and completely illogical?
I just want to conclude by saying that it’s high time since we are trying to avoid the responsibility of erasing this monster named “rape” from our society by blaming customs, culture, victims etc from time to time. Now the time has come to blame and severely punish the actual responsible “Monsters” for breaking the law and faith in civilization.

"The Sounds of the Woods"

Whispering in your ears to fight,
With or without a guarding light,
Listen to the sounds of the woods,
They will walk you through the dark night.

No matter how much clamor is there,
All this burden one has to bear,
Trust the sounds of the woods,
In caliginous times, they’ll still flare.

World would seem coming to an end,
Broken you’ll feel without any mend,
Discover the sounds of the woods,
Pristine and with flair, again you’ll stand.

Though lost and perplexed, don’t lose hope,
Without any glimmer still try to grope,
Sounds of the woods will show you the path,
Keep trying hard and don’t become a mope…. :)

Let's Hope...................

Let’s hope that someday there will be peace all around,
Humanity will unleash and beatitude will know no bound,
Weapons won’t possess the same significance, and
“Red-cliffs” and “Mac-Mohans” needn’t any mound.

Let’s hope that someday no one will die of starvation,
Spreading Tranquillity will be the only oblation,
Even gods will envy our existence, and
Our world itself will become the place for salvation.

Let’s hope that someday everyone will read and write,
Humans won’t be demarcated as “black” and “white”
World will become a better place to live, and
It will too be brimmed of smiles, day and night.

Let’s hope that someday no one will be destitute,
No one will be assented to persecute
There will be harmony everywhere, and
In making peace, everyone is there to contribute.

Let’s hope………..
And start working for it.

An open letter to Sardar Bhagat Singh...

Respected Sir,

The word “respected” is nowhere near in describing the respect and esteem which I have for you in my heart, but the barriers of language are restricting me here. It’s been 81 years since your martyrdom and India have come a long way forward since then. Your dream of Independent India has come true. We are a free country now and also among one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
The journey was not an easy one. On the very day of independence, our country was being divided into two parts. The new country formed was named as “Pakistan”, a country for Indian Muslims. Britishers left this permanent scar on our country which can’t be cured anyhow. We were being attacked by our neighboring countries several times. But somehow we have managed to keep intact our sovereignty and integrity till now.
But at present the situation is not as it should be after 65 years of independence. We don’t even have a government of full majority, a clear indication that people are losing their faith day by day in the system. Our national capital “Delhi” is not safe for women. Government has germinated a novel and astonishingly brilliant way to eradicate poverty by reducing the amount which describes the poverty line. Rich are becoming richer and poor are becoming poorer. These are not good signs and as an acolyte of your beliefs, it’s my duty to make you aware of the current scenario of our country.
You imagined an India in which the wealth would not be centralized among a few people, people would have the feeling of devotion towards the system, and there would be harmonious and pervasive growth and development throughout the country. You envisaged that the freedom of our country would be of the lacs of farmers and poor people also who were being crushed, oppressed and tyrannized by the colonial presence. The freedom is there, but the oppression and tyranny is still there. Poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and female infanticide are still prevalent and there are no signs of their waiver.
You considered and believed that “Youth” of a country are its biggest assets. You revered the fact that “youth” can bring revolution and can change the fate of a country. Sacrifice of you revolutionaries evinced this fact and the whole world accepted it. But the worst and dolorous part is that today’s young people are not ready to take their responsibility. We never have gone through the pain of living in a country which is considered as under foreign rule, we never have breathed the air which doesn't give the feeling of oneness and freedom. We never have seen the revolutionaries on hunger strike for 116 days. So I guess we have taken everything for granted.
But the time has come when we have to take the devoir of bringing the change. We need to be morally strong so that things for the greater cause observe our rumination. I can’t say about anyone else, but I promise you, that one young mind (me) will continuously try to follow the path shown by you.
I am proud that I am born in the same country in which you were born, breathe the same air which you breathed and walk on the same roads and streets on which you walked.

One of your proud followers
Yash

Glimpses of Rhapsody..

Drizzling it was when I spotted that resplendent face,
Amidst the rain drops her eyes were like of a dace,
Beguiling was her beauty to believe it existed
Suddenly everything around started to efface.

She turned towards me and our eyes met,
Perplexed I became and started to fret,
Her face seemed to be illuminating the place
I inched towards her without any abet.

She smiled and caressed her wet hair,
Every movement of her was full of flair,
Her presence belittled my mere existence
Murky was the world and she was the glare.

Meekly I started a little chat with “hi”,
Smiled she again and the dialogue became spry,
Magical were her words and engrossed I became
The rain stopped then and abruptly she said bye.

Bewildered, I asked if we could meet again,
Smiling she said, “of course we can”,
“Same would be the place and blue would be the dress”
“Monday it would be and on July the fifteen”…. :)

Why Indian rupee is behaving in a manner so fickle……?????

The above question has bugged the economists from all over the world from last few months that why the Indian rupee is behaving in so much volatile manner that it’s next to impossible to predict, which pit of low price it will hit the next moment?
I was browsing yesterday’s (Friday) newspaper and I was shocked to see that the rupee had hit the mark of 52.20 against the US dollar, a three month low price.
It’s a cruel fact that the currency has been weighed down by a host of worries and most of them are not likely to fade away in recent future. So let’s be prepared to see the rupee hitting new lower levels. There are so many reasons which are responsible for the current position of rupee, few most important of them has been discussed in this post.
One of the biggest reasons which is causing rupee to depreciate, is our trade gap (the difference between imports and exports). The govt. is trying to fill this gap by remitting foreign exchange and other payments.  The current account deficit or CAD is about to hit the figure of 4% according to the new estimates. It clearly indicates that the demand for foreign currency will be much higher than what will be earned, which will further cause rupee to pound.
Secondly, the global crude oil prices are still going north and crude oil imports accounts for the largest expense in India’s import bill. India imports 80% of its annual oil requirements but sadly nothing much can be done about it.so it’s not very difficult to infer that the demand of greenbacks will be high by the state run oil companies. But as global economy is also facing a downturn (due to European crisis), everyone is trying to find a safe haven by buying dollars which is causing a shortage of dollar in forex market. This will also cause relentless pressure on rupee. There is not much scope of export earnings in this field, so no scope for relief too.
The concern of inflation has again come on forefront by the RBI’s move of 50 basis points decrease in its policy rate, repo rate. The figures of Wholesale price Index also clearly shows that the inflation will hover around 7% in 2011-13 and the economic growth is also not expected to rise much above 7%. So the possibility is very high that foreign investors might move their money out of the country in search of an emerging market star. If foreign currency will move out of the country, the value of rupee is bound to fall.
Finally, the govt. seems helpless to lift the economy from the current situation. I literally jumped out of my bed when I read the comment of our outgoing chief economic advisor Mr Kaushik Basu that it’s very unlikely that major economic reforms will happen before next parliamentary elections. If this appalling prediction comes true, it’s almost sure that the country will be facing a severe refractory inflation, moderate to low economic growth and very high CAD in the coming financial year.
To conclude I can say that the economy is heading towards the stage of stagflation and nothing is being done to stop it reaching there.

And the Sun shined again....

When I walked through hell, it was all dark,
The hope was bleak and the faith was stark,
Then with the gleaming light, the sun shined again,
And life again seemed like full of spark.

When I passed through the memory lane,
There was nothing else but inexorable pain,
Then with the glistening light, the sun shined again,
And I became virile for the goals which I have to attain.

When I strolled around the haunted pathway,
I felt like obscured and giving everything away,
Then with a radiant light, the sun shined again,
And I thought its height of my nay-say.

When I rambled from one thought to another,
I became bewildered and started to blather,
Then with a refulgent light, the sun shined again,
This sun was no one else but my mother.

In the world where everything is possible....

Imagination of a human being can go leaps and bounds. I also imagine sometimes that what if everyone gets what he wants without any fight or effort. What if we can achieve whatever we have aspired for, without any obstacles and roadblocks in our way? What if nothing can be termed as "Herculean Task"? In this new world no one has to set priorities as there is nothing to fight for. There is nothing to feel passionate about to do. There is nothing to put special efforts into to see the zenith. Everything is possible. Everything.
Then I think more deeply and feel that it’s the efforts which define the worth of our achievements and success. Pinnacle won’t be the same joyous if there are no bumpy rides to make, no bragging mountains in the way to challenge and no smiles to cherish while crossing the smallest of the hiccups.
These bumpy rides and mountains are the obstacles against which we fight. The person who puts the best and honest efforts always gets what he wants. This set-up is necessary to maintain the balance of our civilized society. Else there will be an unimaginable havoc. In our world also everything is possible, but one has to work hard and put his 100% to get what he wants. This myth can be made possible by burning oil of the nights, and keeping the faith in one’s ability.
So I happily conclude every time that if you don’t love the hindrances and are afraid to fight, you don’t love your destination.

The dilemma of following the path religiously or concentrating on the end.

Sometimes i find myself in a situation in which i have two options in front of me. One in which I should concentrate on the path which I am following to fulfill my desires or to just concentrate on the destination without even caring about the path. i become a mess that time. Then with a lot of introspection, i find that its the path that matters the most. Without enjoying the journey, one cant savor the joy of reaching his or her destinations. Following one's dreams is the best thing in this world, but one should not be in so much love with them that he forgets to follow the right path to fulfill them.
Life is also a journey with a universal destination named "death". But none of us stops living out of fear of death.  Then why cant we apply the same analogy to everything we do in life. Enjoying the journey  brings happiness in one's life while focusing on the end brings only desperation, restlessness and pain. Rephrasing my point, one should live in the present always without caring much about what happened and what will happen.
We seem to be going through a period of nostalgia, and everyone seems to think yesterday was better than today.  I don't think it was, and I would advise you not to wait ten years before admitting today was great.  If you're hung up on nostalgia, pretend today is yesterday and just go out and have one hell of a time.
