Rape: Curse to Humanity.

When I read some time ago, that 19 rape cases were reported last month in Haryana alone, I felt ashamed of the society in which we are living. On one hand we talk of education, liberalisation, economic reforms, globalisation, peace, etc. etc. etc. and so many other ornamental words, and on the other hand we are not able to bring humans living in this so called” civilized society” to the level of humanity. This economic progress, technological innovation etc doesn’t have any meaning at all till the time everyone in the society; irrespective of being male or female, can’t feel safe and live without any fear.
As I researched more about the happenings in Haryana, several stupid things came up. I was amazed and distressed at the same time when I came to know that an issue of such sensitivity is being tackled by a mob of some ignorant and stupid old bastards who call themselves as “Khap Panchayat”. I don’t see any good reason why such people are even allowed to take decision on such issues. And the solution with which they came up was not at all surprising according to their meagre intellectual ability and respect for women. These so called “Caretakers of Society” decided that the marriage age of girls should be reduced to 15-16 years to avoid rapes. What a thought provokingly shameful thought process! The only meaning of such kind of decision is that now girls will be forced into a painful combination of rape and child marriage. With this decision are they trying to promote their narrow mentality that sex is the sole purpose of marriage or have they tried to turn rape as legal activity by thinking about child marriage? If they will ask these questions from themselves, I don’t doubt that they will bow their head with shame.
What else they are trying to solve with this solution, because this decision is not at all a solution for this problem. The most anguishing fact is that former chief minister of Haryana; Mr Om Prakash Chautala also confidently supported this decision. But I don’t want to blame him (sarcastically). For persons like him and members of “Khap Panchayats”, it’s very easy to sound utter idiot and super confident at the same time.
Whenever this issue of rape is highlighted, girls are being blamed every time. Sometime it’s the provocative clothing and this time it’s not getting married early. Isn't it insane and completely illogical?
I just want to conclude by saying that it’s high time since we are trying to avoid the responsibility of erasing this monster named “rape” from our society by blaming customs, culture, victims etc from time to time. Now the time has come to blame and severely punish the actual responsible “Monsters” for breaking the law and faith in civilization.

  1. The only concern I found is ..ppl themselves are lazy to think abt this issue..as if they are waiting for there own daughter/sister to go through the same pain.....a group of illiterate khaps and few ignorant politicians cant be held responsible for this. The moment each and every individual opposes the practice , a boy raises a voice for someone else's sister/daughter the society would unite against the evil....
